Earlier last month, an incident involving Enzo Amore took place where he was kicked off the talent’s bus.
This garnered some heat for Amore. He was reported as being unhappy with the direction he was heading towards after the split with Big Cass.
On the latest edition of WWE Network’s ‘Bring It To The Table’, this topic was brought up for discussion with panellists Corey Graves and JBL.
JBL had this to say on the matter:
“We’ve had ring announcers, we’ve had commentators, talent thrown out in the past. Here’s what’s bad about it. Most of those guys, except for Miz, never made it. Once the locker room turned against these guys, for whatever reason, they’re sprayed with human repellant. They never made it. So the odds are completely against Enzo.”
Graves gave this brief insight on Amore:
“Enzo is Enzo 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which rubs people off the wrong way… I don’t like Enzo. He’s a fine guy. The guy you see on Monday nights is that guy 24 hours a day. There is no off switch. It rubs people the wrong way. That said, I genuinely hope he gets it together and gets back in the good graces of the guys…”
What Next For Enzo?
Enzo is currently embroiled in a feud with his ex-partner Big Cass and Big Show. The storyline was in the spotlight on Monday as the main event of RAW. However, it seems unclear whether the three of them have a place on the card at SummerSlam.
More worryingly for Enzo, it is also unclear what direction he will be going in after the Cass feud ends. The crowd has been hot for him mainly as a mouthpiece ever since ‘Enzo & Cass’ debuted on the main roster. His ability as a wrestler currently is very limited, and he was able to disguise this behind Big Cass ever since NXT.
Does 205 Live beckon for him? Perhaps it would look bad for his ego if he was moved ‘down’ there. But realistically, it seems to be the next best thing for his career. As Graves pointed out Amore’s inability to turn the switch off his character, his best asset, being his mouth, could also become his downfall if he doesn’t go along with it. Especially when there is legitimate heat on him right now.
Backstage Politics IS An Influence…
If you aren’t in the good books of the right people backstage then there is a ceiling limit to your WWE career. Even someone of Enzo’s ability on the mic would be wise to take this on board.
Fame and money is simply an illusion that many superstars get caught in when they finally sign with WWE. It can prompt talent to take a backseat since they will get paid either way. That seems to be the complete opposite with the Certified G, who is looking for a bigger role for his character.
But right now is a convenient time to eat some humble pie. This writer’s advice would be to follow others as an example. Neville as a primary one. His character had zero direction before the start of this year. Now, Neville is one of , if not the best heel worker in the company right now.
Enzo is entertaining, and for someone of his talent, it would be a shame to see him go in the path of the many others who are not named The Miz, as per JBL. It really is make or break time for Enzo Amore’s career in the next couple of months – and most of that which will dictate his success or failure in WWE will be his attitude for the rest of 2017.
